Bukhansan national park

Bukhansan mountain is a rocky mountain with rough structures and a hard path. I trekked this mountain in late September in 2022. The pathways were all green. The trek took around 3 hours to reach the Baegundae peak. The peak was the hardest portion of the hike. The final 400 metres to the peak are entirely made of steep rocks. It was so exciting to be tugging the ropes while crawling across the mountainside. Many frequent hikers did it with ease. I'm taken aback when I see them.

I went with two more colleagues. We enjoyed our lunch while taking in the panoramic views of Seoul, Namsan Tower, and Lotte Tower from the Baegundae top. We intended to take the shortest route on the way back down, but it turned out to be the most difficult. We took a wrong turn, went in a different direction, and were soon rounding the peak. It would have taken 2.5 hours to get down, but because we took the wrong turn, it took us closer to 5 hours.

Wandering in the forest in a foreign country was challenging. After a lengthy 12-hour ride, we arrived at the bottom about 6 pm. It was challenging but well worth it.

I was proud of myself for finishing the hike in South Korea's first national park. 😊
